The Moffat Policy

If you're familiar at all with the Sherlock or Doctor Who Fandoms, you are probably aware of the general consensus that Steven Moffat is a malicious screen writer out to kill your feels. Moffat takes the blame for pretty much everything. You'll see what I mean below...

I've too have been known to create gifs targeting Moffat. *cough* Like this one. *cough*

However, if you actually look at the facts, the only characters that Moffat has stolen from Whovians are the Ponds and Eleven. And to be fair, Doctor Who is a show where characters just have to go at some point. The Sherlockians have no deaths to complain about. Not even Sherlock's (that was Stephen Thompson's work). Granted, it is possible that Moffat has influenced the writing of other character's deaths (I'm thinking Sherlock's most likely). But as far as writing goes, Moffat has a pretty clean slate.

All this is just to say, when I accuse Moffat of being the problem with everything, I don't really mean it. In fact, when I'm blaming Moffat for something, I don't really picture the actual man, Steven Moffat, as the one I'm blaming. It's hard to explain. It's some kind of inside fandom joke I guess. If anyone appreciates it, it's probably Moffat himself.

Moffat is a brilliant writer. He writes on two of my favorite shows and... well.. they're my favorite shows for a reason. Granted he doesn't get all the credit for them and I don't pretend like he should. (*cough* Russel T Davies *cough*) But I think he should get some credit for what he does.

Yeah... that's my little disclaimer... thing.
